We finally got Adi blessed. It seemed like there were conflicts every month since she was born with the busy summer. So things finally slowed down and she got her name and blessing. Both Davin and Presley were about this age when we blessed them too! Presley and Adilyn wore my blessing dress that my Grandma Barker had made me for my blessing! We did lunch at the house afterwards but the day was a little crazy and we didn’t get as many pictures as I would have hoped!
Tom and Jer’s 55th Surprise Wedding Anniversary Party
Steve’s siblings surprised his parents with a party at the Sandhill for their 55th wedding anniversary. It was quite the event to pull off with Tom and Jerelyn not finding out. The brothers all cooked dutch oven meat and cobbler and the girls made salads. The food was sooo yummy! Tom and Jerelyn had been to the sandhill earlier in the morning working on some things, so the boys were anxiously waiting to go out and get started on the food. Once we got the all clear that they were home everyone started getting things ready. Tom had been anticipating a new calf any time, so we had it all planned that we would call and tell them we had rode out there and that the cow was in labor and that Jerelyn needed to come too so that she could help watch the kids so Steve could help Tom. It all worked and they didn’t suspect anything. Until they drove in with a big banner awaiting them and lots of balloons and cars.
Kate put together a really neat gift for them. She had everyone in the family write letters to Tom and Jerelyn and memories and what they meant to each of us. It just so happened that there were 55 people in the family so there were 55 letters for the book. It was really neat to see the impact they have made on all of their kids, grandkids, and in-laws in their life! We are so thankful for them and for all they do for us!
We had 55 balloons so that everyone could make a wish for Tom and Jerelyn. It was so amazing to see all of them let off and realize how many people are in the family that the balloons represented and also how many years they have been married. Tom took a second and told us that the most important thing he has learned in all of his years of marriage is the importance of tithing. He said when you have nothing, pay your tithing. It was such a neat thing to be a part of and I am so thankful for such wonderful in-laws that do so much for us. Steve and I have great examples to follow!
Flaming Gorge
Labor Day 2013
We were able to sneak away for a short vacation to Flaming gorge with my family. We left friday when I got off work and headed home on Monday. We rafted the green river, and fished, camped and explored. Rafting the river was lots of fun and so pretty. The first trip down everyone went except Steve stayed back with Adi and Presley and picked us up at the end. Then that afternoon just Dad, Steve, Bridger and Cache went down so that they could fly fish on the way down the river.
All the grandkids minus Narrissa, Presley and Adi.
