We headed camping Thursday afternoon to the West Fork. Steve grew up camping there and so did I so we really like going up there with our kids. Sam and Chari went with us and Steve’s parents and Scott and Kate came up for the day Saturday and Shay and Zeb and their kids stopped in to say hi Saturday night.
We went for a fun ride with Steve’s parents. We went up towards Oakleberry’s cabin and down low pass to current creek and back up to camp just below current creek peak. It’s fun to listen to all of his dad’s stories of the good ol’ days up there. He told us how he missed him and Jerelyn’s 1st anniversary because him and some of his buddies got stuck up there and didn’t make it home. They also told us about when they got stuck in their car with Kim and Curt when they were little for 5 days and didn’t see a sole up there. They broke the brake line and Tom fixed it with a knife and some string and they made it all the way down lake creek and home to Payson. There were lots of wood cutting stories and stories of Tom herding the sheep up there with the Oakleberry’s. I wish I had all of the stories written down but I wouldn’t do any of them justice just writing off of memory. Hopefully we will get Tom back up there so we can record the stories and get them written down for family history.

Grandpa calls this place Elephant ear flat – the kids loved playing in them and they scared some deer out running through them. We stopped here for a picnic.
