San Diego is something we look forward to every year. Steve and I started the tradition the first year we were married. It seems we always get sick of the snow here about February and are ready to head somewhere warmer. This year was our 7th trip and San Diego never disappoints. It was pretty low key this year with just a lot of beach , pool, and food time. Usually we do 1 big attraction like Sea World, Knott's Berry or Disneyland… but we skipped all that this year. Being 7 moths pregnant none of that sounded like much fun for me so I ruined the fun for everyone! It was nice to not have an agenda and just have a relaxing trip with no major set plans. Steve’s Brother’s Sam and Dave and their families and Steve’s sister Kate and his Parents all went this year. We stopped in Primm on the way for some shopping at the outlets and Vegas on the way back. It’s always a good time!!
Santa brought the kids DVD players and ear phones for the car. This was their first time getting to use them. Very good investment on Santa’s part.
1st stop as soon as we got into San Diego was El Indio for lunch. It was on Diners Drive Inn’s and Dives. Definitely a good choice.
After Checking into the hotel we headed straight to Mission beach. Apparently it was the 1st nice day for San Diego in a while so the beach was packed!! The kids still had fun, the water was cold but the kids and boys didn’t seem to mind.
1st night swimming at the hotel. The pool was heated so we spent a lot of time there this trip.
La Jolla @ Children’s pool
We went up to a cool lookout in La Jolla where they have a memorial for Veterans. It was really neat and had amazing views of all of San Diego.
Overlooking the San Diego Temple
On the boardwalk after eating at Anthony’s- It was crazy busy there because everyone was getting ready to board this cruise ship. The kids like seeing the big boat.
Day 2 beach time at Coronado. Our favorite beach.
Pool time- Davin was quite the swimmer this year. In years past he has been a little scared of the water. This year he had this alligator and then arm floaties. By the second day he was doing all sorts of tricks with just the arm floaties and swimming all over the pool.
We always visit the Mormon Battalion Church site while we are there. The kids love the way they play the story and like mining for the gold at the end. If you haven’t been here you really should stop. We found out this trip that the Mormon Battalion site in San Diego is the 2nd busy church site. Temple square is #1 and Nauvoo is #3. I thought that was interesting.
Day 3 beach time at Ocean beach. We like going here because of the tide pools.
After the tide pools and beach time at Ocean beach we headed to point Loma down by the harbors for lunch at Point Loma seafood's. While we were there a sport fishing boat had come in and they were unloading all their fish from a 15 day trip to Mexico.
More Swim Time
The kids bed in our suite. Davin was really cute with Presley and would kiss her before bed. Only sometimes are they this cute together.
Day 4 was a colder day with a storm coming in but we had seen these yummies the day before at ocean beach and really wanted to try one. They are called acai bowls. they are in a 32 oz cup filled with yummy smoothie with yogurt at the bottom, granola, and fresh fruit on top. We the headed out for a walk on the pier. It was definitely a cold day. Not much for beach weather.
Cool pelicans on the pier.
Silly Cousins
On the way home we stayed in Vegas. We ate a yummy buffet at the Mirage and toured a few sites.
The kids at the gardens at the Bellagio
Bellagio Fountains.
