October

Wow trying to remember what went on in our lives in october.. feels like forever ago.  Guess i should try to do better and update more often so it isn’t so hard to remember.

We have been enjoying our new house and in October it was finally cold enough for steve to start the wood burning stove that he had been dying to try out since we moved in. It was all really exciting until every smoke detector in the house went off! MAN they are so LOUD!!!!  I guess the fire place needed a little breaking in and the first burn wasn’t so exciting. The alarms would not stop, davin was scared, my ears hurt, and steve was going around the house unplugging them one by one trying to get them turned off. Pretty sure our neighbors were wondering what the heck was going on. Well after all the excitement it was pretty fun to turn off all the lights in the house and watch the fire.

 

Steve’s Dad and Sister had a garden out the farm this year and they had a lot of left over tomatoes and the all had canned so much that they were giving away tomatoes. i had been wanting to make some salsa but didn’t know if i really was up for it but when it came down to it i decided to give it a try. Man, for a first timer, the salsa turned out pretty dang good! it was a lot of work and the kitchen was a disaster by the time i was done, but it was well  worth it!      

And last but not least HALLOWEEN! We had fun carving pumpkins the week before. Davin like getting all the guts out. On Halloween we had Sam and Chari over for taco soup and a pre-trick or treating party. It was raining so we didn’t really make the rounds trick or treating but headed out to steve’s parents to see all the cousins come trick or treating.

     

Davin was  BEAR, Steve was LUIGI, and I was and OLD OLD GRANDMA :)
